System Design
Different users have quite different needs. The TESLA system is designed to
allow the compute engine to be accessed through a desk-top interactive
application or from a remote controller, for example an energy management
system. Its databases of recent load and weather experience allow us to monitor
it to insure optimal performance.
System Components
The central system component is the TESLA compute engine, along with its
supporting data files. The compute engine includes both a forecasting module and
a weather effects decomposition module.
Model operation requires an interface to control operation and display results,
and to maintain up-to-date load and weather histories. TESLA has available an
interface that is integrated with the SORITEC econometric package, and which
allows for both model control and data updates. This system requires external
inputs of weather and load data, which are typically available over a network
connection. The compute engine can also be integrated within a larger data
management framework, take its inputs from that system, and return results to
the system for display within that architecture. The modular design of the TESLA
model allows both interface/control mechanisms to be used in a single
installation.
